St. Edmond’s Home was blessed with the privilege and honor of meeting the Holy Father, Pope Francis, when he came to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families in September 2015. Three of the children, their parents and three staff members represented St. Edmond’s Home as they joined other individuals served by Catholic Social Services at St. Charles Seminary for a private meeting with His Holiness. Denise Clofine, Administrator of St. Edmond’s describes the event as breath taking, as she watched him touch and bless each of the children.
To prepare for this momentous occasion all of our children created a painting to present to the Holy Father. Below are some pictures of the children creating the painting as well as the blanket our staff made with pictures of our children:

“We are so thankful to Pope Francis for advocating for people with disabilities and for reminding and challenging all people of good will to follow Jesus’ call to humbly serve our brothers and sisters. His message of love and service to the poor and marginalized rings true in our hearts as we strive to compassionately serve our precious children and young adults with dignity and love.”
